Flinders Island
Federation of Tasmanian Field Naturalists Clubs meeting,  September 2000

Weedy Seadragon Phyllopteryx taeniolatus.

Several specimens were found on the east coast of Flinders Island.

A terrestrial Nemertean.

A predominantly marine (but somewhat obscure) group, nemerteans are sometimes also known as ribbon or proboscis worms.

They can evert a sticky proboscis with which they capture prey.

Maroon Hoods

A fine "stand" of Pterostylus pedunculatus.

Also found was a new record of a Chiloglottis sp. for Flinders Island, previously only known from Great Dog Island.

Baskets made from marine debris, a choking and ingestion hazard for marine life.
