Excursion to  Nierinna Creek,  June 2006

Nierinna Creek is near Margate in southern Tasmania.

A flatworm on the underside of a thick piece of bark on damp ground.

Pink heath, Epacris impressa.

Under a weeping form of  Exocarpos (Native cherry).
These attractive-looking trees are parasitic on the roots of other nearby trees.

Fungi, about 25mm diameter.

Mother care.

A scorpion in her nest chamber under a rock. If you look carefully you can see her brood of young, including one perched on her head.

Millipedes, found under the same rock.
