NEWS

At our August meeting noted entomologist Dr Peter McQuillan spoke to us about Tasmanian ants; we were amazed at the variety of ants and Peter's knowledge of them.

Our excursion on 8 Aug was along the Kaoota Tramway Track, in the hills about 20km south of Hobart. The walk was very pleasant and there was plenty for field-nats to observe, and yes, we did see some ants.

At our meeting on 2 Sep James Wood, Seed Bank coordinator, photographer, and TFNC member, gave us an account of his trip to China assist with the new seed bank there. James was, as ever, very observant, and his photos were stunning.
